Join us on Sunday, September 26th as AOP kicks off its 33rd season with premiere music from five distinctive new operas at an outdoor concert in its home neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. C&V SCENE AND HEARD showcases opera scenes from five emerging composers - Matt Frey, Alaina Ferris, Michael Lanci, Mary Prescott, and Jessica Rudman - who created the works during their fellowships in AOP’s opera writing program Composers & the Voice (C&V). The biannual event is a rare look at the creative process in action, hosted by C&V Artistic Director Steven Osgood.

The scenes will be performed on a special piano courtesy of our friends at Sing For Hope, and by C&V’s resident opera singers Justine Aronson, Mario Diaz-Moresco, Jasmine Muhammad, and Timothy Stoddard, as well as guest artists Cáitlín Burke, Victoria Davis, Blythe Gaissert, and Nina Riley. Stage and film direction is provided by Luke Landric Leonard, Katie Madison, and Deborah Cowell.

All audience members will be required to show proof of full vaccination. Performers will be distanced but unmasked. Full health and safety protocols available where tickets are sold.
